MillionTreesNYC Giveaway – Sunday, October 6

The Maple Street Garden will be hosting a Tree Giveaway on Sunday, October 6, from 11-1, courtesy of MillionTreesNYC.   Officially launched in October 2007 by New York Restoration Project (NYRP) and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, MillionTreesNYC is an innovative, public-private initiative with the goal to plant and care for one million new trees across the city’s five boroughs by 2017.  YOU MUST REGISTER AHEAD OF TIME TO RESERVE A TREE – CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE REGISTRATION SITE.  After 12 noon, any unclaimed trees will be available on a first come, first served, basis.  Please remember, that in order to qualify for a free tree, you must agree to plant it in one of the five boroughs; to keep it properly watered and maintained; and not to plant along streets, in containers, terraces, balconies or on roofs.  Please also see these helpful FAQ’s for tree adopters.

The Maple Street Garden gratefully acknowledges MillionTreesNYC’s lead sponsors, TD Bank and Toyota, without whose support, the giveaway program would not be possible.  Click here to download a flier for distribution.

The Garden will be hosting a workshop on pallet planting from Sustainable Flatbush, 12-3pm the same day.  Click here for more info.
